Second Stimulus Check Update | July 21, 2020 The US Senate met yesterday to start hashing out the second stimulus check provisions. Without any major changes or extension to the unemployment benefit, as far as we know right now, the $600 dollar unemployment benefit is gone. By July 31st, the Senate needs to come up with a plan to extend or modify the unemployment benefit. If the Senate can NOT come up with a plan or modification to the current unemployment benefit, a lot of folks will be in a tough position. Along the same line, we have NOT heard an update with the second stimulus check that many citizens are in dire need of. Now what I'd like to ask about the second stimulus check update is this, why can't the Senate have an itemized provision breaking everything down in order to pass certain provisions that will benefit the American People? It's like you have a plate of food, you got the chicken, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. You wouldn't throw the whole plate out if you ONLY dislike the broccoli.......right? I am only suggesting to pass the provisions that the Senate KNOWS what the American people need and revisit the provisions that haven't quite been figured out yet..... So what I mean is to PASS the resolution for the $600 unemployment benefit that is set to expire at the end of this month and then re-visit the other provisions. Another stimulus package item that will be expiring on July 25th, is the federal eviction moratorium. SO if your state does not an eviction moratorium, on July 25, your landlord has the right to evict you. Here's my take on the tenant side perspective (I am also a tenant of a rental unit): Do your best to be civil with your landlord to come up with a solution. Show some good faith (as best as you can) because your landlord also has some huge obstacles in front of them as well. Now here's my take on the landlord perspective (I am also a landlord): have some patience and DO NOT jump on the eviction train right away. Just in the way I am suggesting tenants to work with your landlord, landlords make sure to work with your tenants. Now for the Mortgage Forbearance, if you have a federally backed loan (VA, FHA, etc...), it may NOT be a bad idea to look at getting a mortgage forbearance if it is a struggle to make payments. It won't affect your credit if you take it. If you HAVE the means of making your mortgage payment, make it! 😃 Thanks for Subscribing & Liking our Video!
